RITC Champ Dan Shenk Sets Sights On Second Title.

img_1545.jpgThe MMA News has been following Dan Shenk and the Shank Tank for some time, and during that time Shenk has consistently continued to perform towards his goal of MMA professionalism. Already the Rumble In The Cage(RITC) middleweight champ, Dan Shenk recently sat down with The MMA News and broke the news that he would be fighting for the first ever KOTC Canada(King Of The Cage) middleweight title on September 18th. As always Shenk was outgoing and more than willing to give us his take on his next opponent, Luke Harris. Harris, like Shenk has recently fought and defeated Dan Chambers, though Shenk took the hard fought battle that gave him his current RITC middleweight title. Here’s what Shenk had to say about Harris:

“I’m not impressed with Luke at all. He’s only had three fights. He just beat Dan Chambers. Both of us got the Guillotine Choke on Dan. I’ve trained with him. He doesn’t like to get hit. I’m gonna knock him out. I’m gonna knock him out standing up. He really, really doesn’t like getting hit.”

Shenk’s decided to take a different course of action for this fight, and will go to another camp rather than training with his own Shank Tank. His reasoning is simple :

“I need somebody to push me. I run this club, and most of my students don’t have that many fights yet. I’ve emailed BJ Penn and I’m hoping to get a few weeks training at his camp.”

Shenk has confirmed that he will be heading off for BJ Penn’s camp early next week, and will certainly benefit from the high level training that he’ll see there. Shenk’s not done with RITC either, as he’s hoping to have another three fights before the end of the year. It’s a busy schedule for Shenk, and some wondered if he’d recover as fast as he has after his last fight, having taken a series of brutal knees. Shenk however, hasn’t just recovered, he’s thrived and now he wants two championship titles instead of one.

The MMA News will leave you with Shenk’s final words:

“People want to keep on hating, go ahead, it gives me more motivation. You keep on hating, I’ll keep on winning.”
