Dan Henderson Denies Strikeforce Rumors

dan-henderson.jpg On Friday Kevin Iole from Yahoo! Sports wrote an article stating former UFC and Pride Champ Dan Henderson (25-7) was on the verge of signing with the Strikeforce organization.

Henderson and his camp have both come out denying any such deal with Strikeforce, or even being offered a deal by CEO Scott Coker.

Contract negotiations have stalled between Henderson and the UFC, which has probably helped to spark the rumor mill.

UFC president Dana White said that “We have a good relationship with Henderson, and there are no hard feelings. He had a figure he believed he was worth, and we had our own figure, and we weren’t able to get together.”

Meanwhile, friend and business partner Aaron Crecy has admitted that he and Henderson did meet with Strikeforce officials but no signing with anyone was in the near future.

“We had a brief get-to-know-you session with (Strikeforce) and met them for coffee, but to say he’s close to signing would be a gross misrepresentation,” Crecy said.

When reached by FanHouse, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said, “We’ve had dialogue with Dan but that’s all I’d like to say.”

Henderson himself was contacted by MMAWeekly.com and laughed off the Strikeforce rumors.

“I’m still hoping to come to terms with the UFC, until I heard this,” he said. “And I will be exploring other options for sure, but I definitely need to make sure I get paid.”

“I don’t believe that I’m asking for too much money, and I know for a fact that I’m taking less money than other fighters.”

Henderson will be attending the Nov. 7 event but admitted he would be going as a guest and not as the latest Strikeforce fighter.
