World Extreme Cagefighter Urijah Faber (22-3) is set to return to the cage on January 10 against Raphael Assuncao (14-1) at the WEC 46 event in Sacramento, Calif., at the ARCO Arena.

MMAWeekly.com confirmed Faber’s return and noted that both featherweights have verbally agreed to the fight.

Faber last fought against Mike Brown at WEC 41 for the featherweight title, it was a rematch from WEC 36 with the same outcome as Brown won a unanimous decision to retain the belt. Faber ended up damaging both of his hands in the bout and has spent months recovering from the injuries.

Assuncao is on a six fight win streak, including two straight victories in the WEC, defeating Yves Jabouin and Jameel Massouh. A victory over Faber could vault the Brazilian up the ladder for a shot at Brown’s title.
