With Fight Cancelled, Shane Carwin Will Undergo MRI Scan
Undefeated UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin (11-0) will have an MRI scan to his knee for a nagging injury.
His management told Fighters Only tonight that his knee had been “an issue” and Carwin himself says he is “going to get an MRI to see how bad my leg is. Might as well heal up and get a full check up.”
It is not known when the injury was picked up but as a wrestler, Carwin’s knee joints are subjected to significant amounts of wear and tear both in training and fighting.
With his opponent heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar, unavailable for their rescheduled UFC 108 bout, Carwin will have time to undergo any surgery he may require and recover in time for the next date. Much like Anderson Silva who recently underwent elbow surgery to remove bone spurs, the middleweight champ has time to heal before he faces Vitor Belfort.
