Cung Le To Headline December "Strikeforce: Evolution" Event
Strikeforce middleweight fighter Cung Le (6-0) has made verbal agreements to step into the cage against Scott Smith (16-6) as part of the “Strikeforce: Evolution” event on December 19 in San Jose.
Le hasn’t fought in a year-and-a-half since winning the Strikeforce middleweight title against Frank Shamrock. The Vietnamese San Shou stylist hasn’t defended his title, and due to his emerging acting career abdicated the championship. Both Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Jake Shields will be competing at this weekends “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” event for the middleweight title.
Le has had roles in films such as “Tekken,” “Pandorum,” and “Fighting”.
Smith, meanwhile, will look to rebound from a loss to Nick Diaz in June after being submitted via RNC. Before that loss, Smith had won two straight defeating Benji Radach and Terry Martin.
The current rumored “Strikeforce: Evolution” card appears as follows:
-
- Cung Le vs. Scott Smith*
- Josh Thomson vs. TBA (for lightweight championship)*
- Matt Lindland vs. Ronald “Jacare” Souza*
- Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. TBA*
- Robbie Lawler vs. TBA*
* – Not officially announced
