"Strikeforce Challengers V: Woodley vs. Bears" Weigh-in Results
The weigh-ins for the next installment of the Strikeforce Challengers event, “Strikeforce Challengers V: Woodley vs. Bears” took place Thursday night at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.
The event is co-headlined by a welterweight bout between Tyron Woodley (5-0) and Rudy Bears (10-3), as well as a womens bout between Kim Couture (1-1) and Kerry Vera (1-0). The event will air live on Showtime.
All twenty fighters made weight without any problems issues coming up but preliminary card fighters Brian Davidson (147) and Lucas Lopes (191.4) both weighed in over their respective weight limits. Strikeforce officials didn’t mention any penalties and instead stated the bouts are official and ready to go.
Undefeated Woodley looks to win his third Strikeforce fight in a row, defeating Zach Light and Sal Woods in his past two bouts. This will be Bears first Strikeforce match and he will put a six fight win streak on the line.
Kim Couture, ex-wife of Randy Couture, will step into the cage for the first time in a year. In a recent interview she promised to “surprise the mma world” this Friday. Kerry Vera, who coincidentally is the spouse of Brandon Vera, will fight for the second time professionally having defeated Leslie Smith in May as part of the Bellator Fighting Championship event.
