Frank Mir’s Coach Feels His Fighter Has The Advantage
One of the coaches for former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir (12-4), Robert Drysdale, feels his fighter will have the advantage against Cheick Kongo (14-5-1) when both fighters step into the octagon at UFC 107.
Drysdale talked to Tatame.com about Mir’s training and his thoughts on the upcoming match.
“Kongo is tough standing up and the ground is not his stronger spot, everybody knows that. Frank takes advantage on the ground and that’s no secret”, Drysdale said, betting on a strategy of exchanging with the French fighter. “Cheick will try to fight standing up and Frank will be prepared for whatever it is. His hand is sharp and he will exchange well when standing up with Kongo, with no trouble. If he thinks that Frank will be desperate, trying to drop, he is wrong”, guarantees.
When the fight goes to the ground, Drysdale bets a quick end, with victory to Mir. “On the ground, I don’t see Kongo surviving. Frank is very heavy, at about 286 pounds. When he falls on Kongo, he won’t even move”, bets Robert.
Mir and Kongo will meet at “UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez” as part of the main card on Dec. 12 at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.
