UFC 108 Suffers Another Loss, Rory Markham Withdraws

rory-markhamAnother fighter has been forced to withdraw from the Jan 2 event in Las Vegas, as Rory Markham (16-5) has withdrawn from his UFC 108 preliminary bout with Martin Kampmann (15-3) due to a knee injury.

UFC 108 has been the most injury ridden event in the promotions history with fighters such as UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar, Gabriel Gonzaga, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, Carlos Condit, and Tyson Griffin all withdrawing from the event.

The news came late Saturday night from Sherdog.com’s Greg Savage via his Twitter account, and MMAjunkie.com has since confirmed Markham’s withdrawal. No new opponent has been named to face Kampmann at this time.

UFC 108 will take place on Jan. 2nd from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. and will feature a light-heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva.

Markham had been looking to bounce back from a Feb. 2009 KO loss to Dan Hardy at UFC 95. Before that loss, he had won two straight bouts including his UFC debut against Brodie Farber at UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Irvin.
