Strikeforce “Evolution” Draws 14,479 Fans
A total of 14,479 spectators watched Saturday’s Strikeforce “Evolution” event from their seats in the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) confirmed a gate total of $633,674.50 for the event to MMAjunkie.com on Monday.
The event was broadcast on Showtime and headlined by a middleweight bout between former Strikeforce champion Cung Le and Scott Smith. Smith spent the first two rounds on the losing end of the fight, receiving many Le kicks and landing little strikes of his own. In the third round, Smith caught Le with a right sending him stumbling to the cage, where he unleashed several more punches finishing the fight on the mat.
Of Strikeforce’s six events at the HP Pavilion in the past two years, “Strikeforce: Evolution” had the third highest attendance.
