Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs Will Air On EASports.com For Strikeforce “Miami” Event
MMA fans cried foul after welterweights Jay Hieron (18-4) vs. Joe Riggs (32-11(1)) were relegated to the Strikeforce “Miami” preliminary card.
Strikeforce director of communications Mike Afromowitz let fans know today that the Hieron vs. Riggs bout would be streamed live for free on EASports.com.
“It’s definitely one of those fights that deserved to be aired somewhere, so we’re glad to get the opportunity to do this.”
Afromowitz said that the bout will likely air at approximately 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT. The Showtime telecast will kick off at 10 PM ET. It will air via tape delay on the West Coast at 10 PM PT.
Fans voiced their displeasure due to the fact that unproven mma fighters Bobby Lashley and Herschel Walker were both making the Showtime broadcast, while the Hieron vs. Riggs match was delegated to the preliminary card. Showtime is known for not usually broadcasting prelim fights, so fans had no way of seeing the bout.
