Davis has allegedly been filing insurance claims for worker’s compensation from December 2008 to May 2011. During that time he competed in seven mixed martial arts bouts going 6-1, while also competing in an amateur event in 2009 in Palm Springs at a Badgefights show. The event had firefighter and law enforcement officials competing against one another for charity.
Davis, 35, a mixed martial arts fighter, was arrested at his Lomita home about 9 a.m. and is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. Prosecutors filed four felony counts of insurance fraud against Davis, who allegedly filed for worker’s compensation insurance between December 2008 and May 2011. If convicted as charged, he faces up to five years in county jail.
After filing his claim in December 2008, Davis fought three times in 2009, winning matches in February and April under the M-1 Global banner, as well as in August at a Called Out MMA event. He then moved on to win at a FEFoMP event before joining Bellator going 2-1 while claiming workers compensation.
Davis current Bellator record is 3-1, with his last fight coming last month at a local event in Switzerland in which he won via second round TKO.
