Cliffard Starks Set To Meet Strikeforce Fighter Yoel Romero At UFC on FOX 7

Yoel Romero

Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship have added another bout to this April’s UFC on FOX 7 event with middleweight Clifford Satkrs (8-1) welcoming Strikeforce fighter Yoel Romero (4-1) to the Octagon at the New Jersey event.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship added the bout to the official lineup for the Fox television event recently, which includes two other UFC vs. Strikeforce matches. An unofficial lightweight title unification bout between UFC champ Benson Henderson and Strikeforce title holder Gilbert Melendez headlines, while heavyweights Frank Mir and Daniel Cormier are set to meet in the co-main event.

UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Melendez is expected to take place on April 20, 2013 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The main card is set to air on Fox television with the prelim card split between television and streaming video on the internet.

Starks, a former NCAA division 1 wrestler at Arizona State Unviersity, is just 1-1 in the Octagon. Starks was a short notice replacement for Brad Tavares at UFC 137 in October 2011, taking the fight two weeks out from his last fight under the Shark Fights promotion banner. Starks would go on to win a decision over Dustin Jacoby at the event. He would then go on to suffer his first career loss, a submission win for Ed Herman at UFC 143 in February 2012.

Romero makes the jump from the Strikeforce cage to the Octagon with this fight but hasn’t fought since his first career loss back in September 2011. Romero suffered a second round knockout in his only Strikeforce appearance, losing to Rafael Cavalcante at the Barnett vs. Kharitonov event. Romero is a former Olympic Silver medalist competing for Cuba in men’s freestyle wrestling at 85kg’s in 2000.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
