Not previously announced (by this site at least) is a lightweight bout between Team Alpha Male standout Danny “Last Call” Castillo (14-4) and TUF 12 Finalist Michael ‘The Menace’ Johnson (11-6).
Also confirmed, but previously reported, was a featherweight bout between Dennis Siver, who drops to 145-lbs for the first time, and ‘The Filipino Phenom’ Eddie Yagin, as well as a fight at bantamweight between Japanese striker Takeya Mizugaki and submission specialist Jeff Hougland.
UFC 151 is expected to take place on September 1, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight title match between current UFC champion Jon Jones and former Strikeforce title holder, Dan Henderson.
Castillo is on a bit of a run, winning three straight in the Octagon. He recently earned a decision over John Cholish in May at UFC on FOX 3, while winning a split decision versus Anthony Njokuani at UFC 141, and a first round TKO finish over Shamar Bailey at UFC 139. ‘Last Call’ is 6-1 in his last seven matches which includes a loss to Jacob Volkmann at UFC on Versus 5.
Johnson is looking to win his third straight after two victories on FOX cards. The former TUF 12 finalist saw his last fight on the same card as Castillo, winning a unanimous decision versus Tony Ferguson at the New Jersey event. His other win was also by decision, coming against Shane Roller at UFC on FOX 2. ‘The Menace’ had been scheduled to face Cody McKenzie but was replaced by Roller when he became injured.
