Yo-Yo Ratings Put Bellator 54 Back On Track With 185,000 Viewers

Bellator Fighting Championships has experienced yo-yo type ratings during it’s Fifth Season, as the promotion brought in an audience of 185,000 viewers for this past weekends live broadcast of Bellator 54 on MTV2.

That is an increase of 82,000 viewers over the previous weekends ratings of 103,000 viewers for Bellator 53.

Several news sites confirmed the numbers with MTV2 officials, including MMAjunkie.com who also listed the ratings for all previous Bellator events on MTV2. The site noted that the average audience so-far, for Season Five is 177,500 viewers, much lower than ratings for this past summer (242,000 for the “Summer Series”) and for the previous season (Season four which averaged 204,000 viewers).

Bellator 54 featured the semifinal bouts of the Middleweight Tournament as well as a non-title bout between bantamweight champ Zach Makovsky and Ryan Roberts. Middleweights Alexander Shlemenko and Vitor Vianna won their respective bouts and will now meet in the finals.

Will the fickle fans tune in, or tune out, as Bellator could potentially experience more “yo-yo” ratings for this weekends Bellator 55 event, which features the bantamweight semifinals. I guess we’ll have to see come next week what MTV2 officials have to say.
